Logitope offers typesetting services in Chinese, English, German, and other European languages. We mainly work with InDesign, QuarkXPress and FrameMaker in Windows as well as MacOS environments.

Because all our projects are related to translation, we are familiar with potential issues, know the pitfalls to be avoided and are able to give you advice on the optimal workflow.

Depending on the translation project's implementation, the target files may be generated directly from a CAT application or created manually by pasting the target text into the original file, overwriting the source (strategy 2 in the flowchart on the Workflow examples page).

When formatting documents, we not only pay attention to visual appearance, but also logical structure—e.g., we avoid unnecessary line breaks and apply the correct styles, if applicable. We are also able to edit embedded images, flowcharts, etc. to show the text of the target language.

All typesetting work is performed in-house. We usually provide screen PDFs which the client's translator or proofreader then reviews. This procedure is especially recommended for languages we do not speak ourselves, i.e. languages other than English, German, and Chinese, so that potential language-related issues can be identified. If performed by the translators themselves, this checking step also gives them a chance to proofread their translations in full context. We implement any changes requested by the reviewer and deliver high-resolution print PDFs after everything has been confirmed satisfactory.

For technical documentation, per-page prices are usually around USD 2; high-value magazines or brochures can be more time-consuming.
